In response to the expected "yes" vote from Bernie Sanders and other U.S. senators approving a deal that would see military funding for apartheid Israel's Iron Dome system approved in exchange for aid for Gaza, 33 Palestinian civil society groups have issued the below statement in condemnation.

The Palestinian Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions National Committee (BNC), the largest coalition in Palestinian civil society representing Palestinians in the Occupied Territory, inside the Green Line and in exile, expresses its gratitude to all those individuals, organizations and states across Africa that in recent weeks have spoken out against Israel’s observer status at the African Union.  We call on all those that are still hesitant to take a position to join the growing efforts to keep apartheid Israel out of the African Union.

The major themes so far have been the climate crisis, vaccinating the world against Covid-19 and the new regime in Afghanistan – and rightly so.

On Saturday, September 18, in more than 50 cities across six continents Palestinian rights supporters and sports fans participated in the #BoycottPUMA Global Day of Action. Just after the Global Day of Action, the twitter reach of #BoycottPUMA stood at a whopping 9 million. It has since nearly doubled to 17 million.

For the first time in the region, the despotic Emirati regime will be hosting the World Expo in Dubai upcoming October. Both the UAE and Israel are shamelessly using the World Expo in presenting a “prettier face” to whitewash and distract attention from their grave human rights violations. 

It’s not a good time to be PUMA’s CEO. Last month we learned just how nervous he is about the growing campaign to boycott PUMA over its support for Israeli apartheid. Teams in several countries are dropping PUMA, and PUMA’s celebrity ambassadors and business partners are beginning to raise ethical concerns. Now nearly 60,000 people have signed a petition to PUMA by global advocacy organization SumOfUs.

The Palestinian Campaign for the Academic and Cultural Boycott of Israel (PACBI) calls on triathletes to boycott the planned IRONMAN 70.3 triathlon competition in apartheid Israel, scheduled for November 12, 2021. We urge triathletes to boycott the race in the spirit of “fair play, equality, and sportsmanship” that IRONMAN claims to promote.

More than 250 Palestinian rights supporters took part in a demonstration protesting Israeli apartheid inside and outside the Denmark - Israel World Cup Qualifier football match. Outside the stadium, speakers denounced Israel's attacks on Palestinian sports and its use of football to sports-wash its oppression of Palestinians. Demonstrators showed support for the call from 200 Palestinian teams to boycott German sportswear company Puma over its support for illegal Israeli settlements. Over 1000 leaflets were distributed to football fans.
