Palestine Solidarity Network Aotearoa
Palestine Solidarity Network Aotearoa
The New Zealand Palestine Solidarity Network arose from the Conference on Palestine in 2013. The network expanded and developed a more formal national structure at a National Seminar in Christchurch in June 2019 and has become the Palestine Solidarity Network Aotearoa – PSNA.
PSNA is committed to working with groups around New Zealand and internationally to build and strengthen campaigns for a free Palestine. PSNA aims to change public opinion and bring pressure on the New Zealand government to join the majority of the international community in requiring Israel to recognize and support the following principles:
* A just peace in Palestine depends upon the return of Palestinian refugees to their homeland and the dismantling of the Zionist structure of the state of Israel, recognizing that the further partitioning of Palestine in order to create the so-called Two-State Solution would only lead to further injustice and suffering.
* Acceptance of the primacy of international law and United Nations resolutions as the basis for the ending of military occupation and all forms of ethnic discrimination in Israel.
* The international community's responsibility for upholding the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and the urgent need for the state of Israel to be called to account for its gross abuses of Palestinian human rights.
* Justice requires the establishment of a single state in Palestine, bi-national, secular and democratic, with full and equal citizenship for all with ethnic and religious rights protected in a democratic constitution.

Scottish Palestine Solidarity Campaign
Scottish Palestine Solidarity Campaign
As an organisation, SPSC see ourselves as an extension to the Palestinian struggle for freedom against Israel's programme of ethnic cleansing and genocide in Palestine. Our role is to channel public opposition to the Zionist settler colonial project into an effective and dynamic Scottish component of the global campaign that sends a powerful message of solidarity with the Palestinian people and a warning to Israel that its crimes must end. Aligning with the principles of the BDS Call, we are an inclusive anti-racist organisation. Since our founding, while always finding ways to take strategic and effective action, we also prioritise political education, discussion and debate to ensure we explore and develop the best approach to solidarity work. This means understanding who our opposition is, in particular the organisations that constitute the pro-Israel lobby in Scotland and beyond who are working to weaken civil society support for Palestinian rights by ‘driving a wedge’ between those who actively support the BDS Call and its three demands, and those who may be critical but are prepared to compromise on Palestinian rights. SPSC activists faced charges of antisemitism for BDS actions as early as 2009 - charges highlighted by Lord Bracadale, when he rejected the inclusion of the IHRA Working Definition as part of revised hate legislation, as an example of the misuse of the law. A key aspect of our work has to be to protect our rights and oppose anti-Palestinian racism. This includes campaigning to get the Scottish Government and other institutions to withdraw support for the IHRA.
