International Day Against Racism is Urgent for Palestinians

This #IDERD, escalate all #BDS campaigns to end #GazaGenocide

As we mark this International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination (#IDERD) we commemorate all of the Palestinians murdered in Israel’s racist #GazaGenocide. Palestinians in Gaza have now endured 167 days of Israeli attacks, over 32,000 Palestinians have been murdered, at least 13,000 of them were children.

As we write, Israel is besieging patients and the displaced at al-Shifa Hospital and is threatening to blow it up. The UN has warned of catastrophic levels of hunger and starvation. In the words of Michael Fakhri, the UN Special Rapporteur on the Right to Food, “We've never seen a civilian population go so hungry and so completely in any time in modern history. We've never seen children pushed into malnutrition so quickly.”

This #IDERD, march with us to end #GazaGenocide and dismantle Israeli apartheid, march towards freedom, justice and equality for all!

#IDERD is observed annually on the day of the 1960 Sharpeville Massacre when South African police murdered 69 Black people during a peaceful protest against apartheid laws. #IDERD is an annual call to end all forms of racial discrimination, segregation, and apartheid worldwide.

Since 1948, Israel has maintained an apartheid regime over the entire Palestinian people through laws, policies and practices which ensure their prolonged and cruel discriminatory treatment.

South Africa’s apartheid system ended in 1994, but Israel’s apartheid regime against all Palestinians has been allowed to continue with impunity because of the support and complicity of Western governments.

Escalate #BDS campaigns. Pressure states and institutions to divest from complicit companies. Impose an immediate #MilitaryEmbargo and targeted sanctions on apartheid Israel now.
