Joint Media Statement: Embassy of the State of Palestine to South Africa and BDS South Africa

Recent comments made in South Africa by Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas (and Chairman of the Palestine Liberation Organisation), regarding the boycott of Israeli settlements and products, seem to have been taken out of context and misconstrued by some members of the media and members of the Israeli lobby. Some journalists and Israeli lobbyists have reported that President Abbas, at a South African press conference, said that he is opposed to the international boycott. This is untrue.

Dutch water company terminates relationship with Mekerot following government advice

The Palestinian BDS National Committee (BNC), the largest coalition of Palestinian civil society, applauds Vitens, the largest supplier of drinking water in the Netherlands, for the decision to end its cooperation agreement with Israel’s national water company Mekorot because of Vitens’ commitment to international law.[1]

The BNC also commends the Dutch foreign ministry, who had advised Vitens about the cooperation and in general discourages financial transactions with illegal Israeli settlements.

European moves against settlements revive Israel boycott fears

Steps by European companies and governments to restrict business with West Bank settlements are rekindling longstanding fears in Israel of a broader economic boycott over its treatment of the Palestinians.

Global pressure pushes back Israel's red lines

Jerusalem (AFP) - The nuclear deal signed with Iran, and Israel's participation in an EU project which bars settlement funding, is proving the effectiveness of external pressure on the Jewish state, experts say.

US Secretary of State John Kerry arrived in the region Wednesday for his first visit since world powers reached an interim agreement with Iran to scale back its nuclear programme in exchange for limited sanctions relief, which Israel has denounced as "a historic mistake".
