Corporations that are implicated in the commission of international crimes connected to Israel’s unlawful occupation, racial segregation, and apartheid regime - within or beyond the Palestinian territories occupied in 1967 - are all complicit and must be held accountable. Direct complicity includes military, logistical, intelligence, financial, and infrastructure support. The corporations and their boards of directors and executives may face criminal liability for this complicity.

In a lawsuit filed on November 13, 2024, Ben & Jerry’s says Unilever has silenced the company’s support for Palestinian human rights and threatened to dismantle its board and sue its members over the issue. Since the beginning of Israel’s genocidal assault on Gaza, Ben & Jerry's has attempted to publicly voice support for a permanent and immediate ceasefire, the end of U.S. military funding to Israel, and the protection of Palestinian refugee rights. Their attempts to speak out were muzzled by Unilever, according to the lawsuit. 

No, the ICC will “not end Israel’s genocide,” let alone “liberate Palestine.” Nor can the ICJ or even the UN, and I do not know any sane adult who has claimed otherwise. This does not mean, however, to dismiss the piling, unprecedented, far-reaching legal and diplomatic blows to Israel as “nothing” or as “merely symbolic.” Doing so would reflect a serious misreading of history or utter ignorance.

Israel overtly uses culture as a form of propaganda to whitewash or justify its regime of occupation, settler-colonialism and apartheid over the Palestinian people. Just as South African anti-apartheid activists had called on international artists, writers and cultural institutions to culturally boycott South Africa, PACBI urges international cultural workers and cultural organizations, including unions and associations, to boycott and/or work towards the cancellation of events, activities, agreements, or projects involving Israel, its lobby groups or its cultural institutions.

G4S is the biggest security company in the world. In April 2021, US-based corporation Allied Universal acquired G4S in a $5.2 billion deal. It runs Israel’s central training academy for its police forces. These Israeli forces are the main state organs tasked with the brutally violent repression of Palestinians opposing Israel’s military occupation and human rights violations and are widely denounced for their systematic use of torture and other illegal practices. The StopG4S campaign pressures the company to end its involvement in Israeli human rights violations.

G4S is a British security company that helps Israel to operate prisons at which Palestinian political prisoners are held without trial and subjected to torture. G4S also provides equipment and services to illegal Israeli settlements, Israel’s apartheid Wall and the Israeli military.

On January 1, 2025, Italian sportswear company Erreà will enter into a sponsorship contract with the Israel Football Association (IFA) as Israel escalates the unspeakable horrors of its genocide in Gaza. Erreà will take over from the German multinational PUMA. In December 2023, PUMAleaked news that it would not be renewing its contract with the IFA following a 5-year global boycott campaign over the IFA’s complicity in Israel’s decades-long apartheid regime and military occupation, and more recently, its Gaza genocide.

The indictment of Israeli leaders by the International Criminal Court (ICC) on charges of war crimes and crimes against humanity perpetrated against Palestinians in Gaza, alongside the ongoing genocide case against Israel at the International Court of Justice (ICJ), is a watershed in the Palestinian quest for long overdue justice and accountability. The ICC arrest warrants against Israeli leaders are expected to usher in a wave of domestic and international prosecution initiatives that promise to hold complicit Israelis accountable for the ongoing genocide against 2.3 million Palestinians in Gaza, as well as for the decades-old illegal occupation and the crime against humanity of apartheid.
