On this day in 1982, under the oversight and control of the Israeli occupation forces, a fascist, Israeli-backed Lebanese militia began a planned 3-day brutal massacre of several thousand Palestinian refugees, along with Lebanese civilians, in the Sabra and Shatila refugee camps in occupied Beirut.

On September 18th, the UN General Assembly overwhelmingly voted for imposing sanctions on Israel for the first time in 42 years! The global majority affirmed that the historic ruling by the International Court of Justice (ICJ) triggers the legal obligation of all states to end complicity in Israel’s illegal occupation and apartheid regime.

We write as the Palestinian Federation of Unions of University Professors and Employees (PFUUPE) and Palestine Academy for Science and Technology (PalAST), which represent nearly 10,000 university faculty and staff members at 18 Palestinian universities, in response to the many principled stands by universities around the world on the situation in Gaza and the dire consequences it is having for Palestinians.

Occupied Palestine, 24 September 2024 – Israel is expanding its criminal aggression from the Gaza Strip to the West Bank and now to Lebanon, passing through Yemen, Iraq and Syria. In a matter of a few days, Israel has ferociously targeted hundreds of villages and towns in Lebanon, killing hundreds, wounding thousands, and inflicting massive damage to civilian homes and infrastructure.

The FIFA Council is set to vote on October 3 on whether genocidal apartheid Israel should be banned from world football. Banning Israel from FIFA should be a no brainer.

Corrupt FIFA was forced, thanks to you and many around the world, to finally hold its vote on banning genocidal apartheid Israel last week. FIFA first hijacked the General Assembly vote last May in order to restrict the vote to the FIFA Council. It then postponed the Council vote, not once but twice!

In the midst of its genocide against 2.3 million Palestinians in the occupied Gaza Strip, the Israeli military is intensifying its massacres in northern Gaza to forcibly displace the remaining Palestinian population–some 400,000. Over the past seven days, Israeli forces have advanced into this area, effectively blocking the only three entrances and imposing a siege that has included heavy airstrikes and shelling, particularly targeting what is left of the Jabalia refugee camp.

Cisco’s complicity in Israel’s crimes of apartheid and genocide is well documented through its illegal operations in illegal settlements in the Occupied Palestinian Territory (OPT), discriminatory policies, long-standing partnership with the Israeli military, and serial acquisitions of Israeli companies complicit in human rights violations. Israel’s unspeakable horrors against Palestinians in Gaza continue unabated, emboldened by the complicity of international organizations such as FIFA.

CAF is being challenged far and wide for its complicity in Israeli apartheid. Eight trade unions in Norway are calling for the boycott of CAF, while over 15 human rights organisations in the Spanish state are calling for CAF and companies listed in the UN database to be excluded from public tenders. Well-known figures, such as the runner Javi Dominguez and the journalist Amparo Lasheras, are also calling for mobilisation in the Basque Country on November 28th, and campaigners in the UK are calling for CAF to be ruled out for the bid to provide rolling stock for the UK’s new high-speed railway, HS2.
