The former vocal leader of the world famous Catalan group Ojos de Brujo had been due to perform at the Festival Méditerranée of Ashdod in Israel. 

BDS groups across Spain had urged her to cancel her performance.

The Ashdod Festival has broad government support and is financed by companies which are directly linked to the violation of Palestinian rights and is a a clear example of how Israel uses culture to whitewash its image.
