Occupied Palestine, 15 November 2012 - On November 8, Israel carried out an attack on civilians in the occupied and besieged Gaza Strip, shooting 13-year-old Ahmad Abu Daqqa while he played football with friends.
Ahead of the Israeli elections next January, a merger between the parties of the prime minister, Binyamin Netanyahu, and the foreign minister, Avigdor Lieberman, has been announced. They are to contest the elections on a joint list, intending to become the largest bloc in the Knesset.
The move is seen as an achievement for both men. Netanyahu was shaken by the recent decline in the popularity of his Likud party at the rate of one seat per week.
On October 23rd the European Parliament adopted the EU-Israel ACAA trade agreement by 379 votes to 230, with 41 abstentions despite the escalation of Israel’s illegal settlement policies and the entrenchment of its occupation of Palestinian lands. The vote was prompted by last month’s decision of the International Trade committee which, by a single vote, decided to oppose a further suspension of the agreement.
At the opening plenary of the African National Congress' (ANC) 3rd International Solidarity Conference, former Dutch anti-apartheid activist, Adri Nieuwhof, presented a statement on behalf of over 150 former internationalanti-apartheid activists (from more than 19 countries and belonging to over 35 organizations) to the ANC, South Africa's ruling party. The statement calls on the ANC to support the Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions (BDS) against Israel campaign.
Occupied Ramallah, September 21 2012—On Friday, the youth group Palestinians for Dignity organized a sit-in in front of the headquarters of the European Union Coordinating Office for Palestinian Police Support (EUPOL COPPS) on Tokyo Street, Ramallah in protest of a series of decisions undertaken by the EU to develop trade and diplomatic relations with the occupying state of Israel.
