[New York, April 21, 2011] Jewish Voice for Peace today responded to retirement giant TIAA-CREF’s efforts to thwart a shareholder resolution asking it to engage with companies in its portfolio that profit from Israel’s illegal occupation of the Palestinian territories.

The Palestine Kairos Document was launched in South Africa on Monday evening 4 April 2011, at a meeting of Kairos Southern Africa in Bredell near Johannesburg. The document is called: A moment of truth - A word of faith, hope and love from the heart of the Palestian suffering.

"The Belgian-French financial group Dexia gave a mandate to the Rothschild merchant bank to find a buyer for its Israeli subsidiary. The decision follows several takeover proposals for the bank.

Quakers in Britain have agreed to boycott products from the Israeli settlements in the West Bank. The settlements are illegal under international law. Quakers consider that this boycott is a nonviolent move for peace for Israelis and Palestinians. The decision makes clear that Quakers are not boycotting Israel.
