[Electronic Intifada] It came as no surprise to campaigners in the United Kingdom to hear the British Foreign Minister David Miliband reveal this week that components supplied by Britain were "almost certainly" used by Israel in its recent military assault on Gaza. Despite Israel's continued human rights abuses, the UK government has licensed millions of pounds' worth of military equipment to Israel over the last few years including components for tanks and combat aircraft, in direct conflict with its own arms policy.

[Defense News] MOSCOW - Russia has purchased its first unmanned drones from Israel after its own manufacturers turned out to be ineffective at making the high-tech reconnaissance aircraft, a newspaper reported April 7. The deal for an initial purchase of $50 million worth of drones was concluded in early April with Israel Aerospace Industries, the Kommersant daily said, citing a Russian defense industry source.

Dutch Campaign Against Arms Trade - Israel has an extensive domestic arms industry and is also one of the world’s largest arms importers. Most of its arms (about 95%) are supplied by the United States. The remaining 5% is mainly supplied by European countries, although arms export to Israel are not in line with the EU criteria for arms export. When it comes to Israel the EU arms export criteria are not applied consistently.
