Israel and proponents of Israeli apartheid persistently work to silence Palestinians and supporters of our rights, to stop us from sharing the cruel realities of life under Israeli occupation and apartheid with the world, and to prevent us from advocating for our freedom. Facebook has been a major implementer of this censorship, while also allowing the spread of hate speech targeting oppressed communities, from Myanmar to Kashmir to Palestine.

Docaviv – the Tel Aviv International Documentary Film Festival 2020 closes this week, with notable cancellations from four international filmmakers and guests.

It was 3:30 am, just before Eid al-Adha. We had prepared ourselves to celebrate the holiday in our new dream home, which took us years to finish. Occupied Palestine, 23 August 2020 - In response to apartheid Israel’s ongoing bombing of the occupied and besieged Gaza Strip, the Palestinian BDS National Committee (BNC) reiterates Palestinian civil society’s calls for targeted and lawful sanctions on Israel, in particular an urgent and comprehensive military embargo, and for escalating boycott and divestment campaigns to end its crimes.

Palestinian sports clubs have called for a boycott of Puma over its sponsorship of the Israel Football Association, which includes and advocates on behalf of teams in illegal Israeli settlements on stolen Palestinian land.  Puma has repeatedly attempted to distance itself or justify its actions, rather than abiding by its stated commitment to human rights and ending all activity in illegal Israeli settlements.

Israel’s decades-old regime of apartheid and theft of Palestinian land is continuing unabated. Reports that Israel is “suspending” formal annexation are a smokescreen for continued colonisation and piecemeal ethnic cleansing of Indigenous Palestinians.

August 17, 2020 -- Today, Palestinian human rights defender and BDS coordinator Mahmoud Nawajaa was released by an Israeli military court, after 19 days of illegal detention without charges. Since his arrest on July 30, the Israeli internal security Shin Bet has failed to present any formal charges against him.
