Jewish Exponent: During a speech last week in Center City, Oman's ambassador to the United States lauded the 2006 free-trade agreement between the two countries, and urged for increased economic and political cooperation.

Hunaina Sultan Al-Mughairy -- a rare female ambassador from the Arab world, who's represented the oil-rich, Persian Gulf nation since 2005 -- also stated in her remarks that the sultanate no longer takes part in the decades-old Arab economic boycott against Israel.

Globes: The Council for Higher Education in Israel has signed an agreement with the European Commission to join Tempus (the trans-European mobility scheme for university studies). The faculty and student exchange program between the EU and 27 other countries, including Lebanon, Syria, and Iran. Tempus decided on Israel's membership a month ago.

YNET: Despite struggles, boycotts and threats, the acclaimed Israeli feature film “The Band's Visit” will finally be making it to Egypt this week.
 
The film was rejected by the Cairo International Film Festival, and later on the Egyptian Actors’ Guild threatened to boycott the Abu Dhabi Film Festival for accepting the film. This eventually resulted in the latter dropping the film in the last minute. Despite all that, a special screening of the film will be held in Cairo this coming Thursday.
