The livestreamed genocidal horror of rolling massacres and induced starvation inflicted by apartheid Israel on millions of Palestinians in the illegally occupied Gaza Strip has reached a breaking point. When thousands of our babies are looking death in the eye because the Israeli occupation is denying all goods from entering Gaza, including baby formula and essential medical supplies, NEVER AGAIN IS NOW!
For the first time ever, even the world’s most complicit governments are being forced - due to people power and moral outrage - to publicly consider accountability measures against Israel, shattering this taboo. This is another clear sign that our collective popular BDS pressure is working.
But we need to show governments across the globe now that posturing and throwing empty rhetoric around to appease enraged publics will not cut it.
States have a legal and ethical obligation to end their shameful complicity in Israel’s genocide, and we must all escalate pressure like never before to make them respect these obligations! If not now, when?

Let us rise together with courage and determination for Palestinian liberation and for defending our shared humanity. Let’s defeat the “might makes right” axis because solidarity is our future.
While recent statements may reflect a symbolic political shift, they are far too late and fall dangerously short of meeting the obligations of states under international law. No sanctions to actually end Israel’s livestreamed genocide in Gaza have been mentioned.
Across the Global South, especially in Arab, Organization of Islamic Cooperation, BRICS, African Union, and Latin American states, we call on people to mobilize and peacefully disrupt like never before, demanding that their governments immediately fulfill their legal and moral obligations by ending complicity with genocidal Israel. Palestinian civil society, UN human rights experts, and international law all point to the same imperative: accountability and the duty to stop the genocide and then punish its perpetrators. Even in the colonial West, the tide is turning. Grassroots pressure is reaching historic heights, pushing deeply complicit governments and institutions to propose unprecedented measures of accountability, even if still weak and terribly inadequate. After 77 years of Israel’s regime of settler colonialism and apartheid, we are finally seeing cracks in the wall of its “total impunity,” as even the UN Secretary-General once put it. This is not the time for hesitation or empty rhetoric. It is the time for lawful sanctions.
As UN human rights experts have said following the ICJ ruling about Israel’s illegal occupation and apartheid last year, to fulfill their legal obligations, States must at a bare minimum “Cancel or suspend economic relationships, trade agreements and academic relations with Israel that may contribute to its unlawful presence and apartheid regime in the occupied Palestinian territory,” and “Impose a full arms embargo on Israel.”
We need to MAKE THEM do this!
