Oslo Turns 25, Proves BDS Critical For A Free and Just Future

As the Oslo Accords turn 25, we see that the “peace process” has served as cover for Israel to steal more Palestinian land, expel more Palestinians from their homes and commit war crimes against Palestinians without accountability. It's more important than ever to redouble our efforts to isolate Israeli apartheid and create a future where we are all free.

September 13, 2018 — Today is the 25th anniversary of the signing of the Oslo Accords, and life for Palestinians has only gotten worse. The Oslo “peace process” has served as cover for Israel to steal more Palestinian land, expel more Palestinians from their homes and commit war crimes against Palestinians without accountability. Israel has passed legislation formalizing its system of apartheid, using the law to systematically discriminate against  indigenous Palestinians and denying us our inherent rights.

We insist on our people’s comprehensive rights, which the Oslo Accords have undermined, especially the right of our refugees to return to their homes of origin, so we continue to strengthen our popular struggle for freedom, justice and equality.

We also continue to build the BDS movement globally as the most effective solidarity strategy to cut links of complicity with Israel’s regime of oppression. After 25 years of Oslo’s entrenchment of Israeli apartheid, it is high time for justice and accountability.

As the Trump administration sides unabashedly with Israel and the European Union continues with its complicity, only paying us lip service, it’s more important than ever for people of conscience around the world to to support our peaceful, anti-racist  BDS movement.

Effective solidarity with our struggle today means endorsing a military embargo against Israel’s apartheid regime, engaging in academic and cultural boycott initiatives against its complicit institutions, campaigning for divestment from companies that are complicit in its crimes, or otherwise pressuring its far-right regime.

As in the freedom struggle in South Africa, justice can prevail in Palestine with the support of justice movements around the world.

Let’s double our efforts to isolate Israeli apartheid and create a future where we are all free.

The Palestinian BDS National Committee (BNC) is the largest coalition in Palestinian civil society. It leads and supports the global Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions movement for Palestinian rights.
