South African campaign group Open Shuhada Street launched a petition in support of their government's decision to enforce traceability of settlement products.

The European Union had adopted a similar approach to distinguish settlement products from those produced within the Green Line so to exclude them from the preferential terms of the EU-Israel trade agreement. They were however met with fraud on the part of Israeli exporters who deliberately mislead European authorities of their origin. Some European governments are now considering a move towards the enforcement of a full ban of settlement products from EU markets. Questions remain on how traceability will be enforced given any such system would rely on a willingness to trust Israel and Israeli companies to tell the truth about the true origin of produce.
