Join the Global Mobilisation for #UNInvestigateApartheid

We need your support to ensure that the UNGA responds to the Palestinian demand for freedom, justice and equality!

The 76th session of the United Nations General Assembly will begin on September 14th, and representatives of governments from around the world will gather at the UN headquarters in New York for #UNGA76.

In the past, the UN General Assembly condemned apartheid in southern Africa as a threat to international security, and as a flagrant violation of the Charter of the United Nations and the right to self-determination of peoples under colonial and foreign domination. It called on all states to end military, economic, cultural and diplomatic relations with South Africa and established a special UN Committee and Center to help eradicate apartheid.

It’s past time for the UN to do the same with Israeli apartheid.

Here are several actions you can take to give visibility to the global civil society call opposing Israel’s regime of colonialism and apartheid.

  • Join our Twitterstorm in the hours before the opening session of #UNGA76 between 20:00 and 22:00 Palestine Time on Tuesday 14th  September. Find a variety of pre-prepared Tweets and images here. Or share your own message calling for #UNInvestigateApartheid and #MilitaryEmbargo.

  • Sign our E-Action and send an email to the President of the UN GA and Secretary-General of the UN demanding #UNInvestigateApartheid.

  • Depending on the Covid-19 situation in your country, organise a protest action in front of your foreign ministry offices, urging them to raise the issues of Israel’s apartheid and pushing for #UNInvestigateApartheid during #UNGA76. If your organisation takes part in any protest actions during #UNGA76 please make sure to take some photos and tag us on social media or email your photos to media@bdsmovement.net so that we can highlight your amazing efforts!

  • Join and promote events organized by the Global South Response network to commemorate NGO Forum Durban Declaration and Program of Action, 2001- a landmark in global struggles for justice.

  • Tell the world that as citizens of conscience we want a world without racism, oppression and apartheid and create Apartheid Free Zones in the local businesses of your region, in cultural associations or in activist spaces in which you participate.
