University Teachers’ Association condemns Qana Massacre

July 31, 2006
Lebanon and Palestine have been enduring Israeli policies of extermination and vandalism for decades. UTA equally condemns the international conspiracy of silence and Arab impotence in the face of the continuous Israeli-American crimes.

Lebanon and Palestine have been enduring Israeli policies of extermination and vandalism for decades. UTA equally condemns the international conspiracy of silence and Arab impotence in the face of the continuous Israeli-American crimes. The Qana massacre was committed on the arrival of the terrorist US Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice's second visit to Israel in four days so that she could witness first-hand the heinous Israeli crimes committed by American smart bombs, F16s and Apache helicopters.

The failure of the United Nations and its numerous organizations to condemn such crimes indicates complicity. We therefore launch an urgent appeal, not to the United Nations and the sanctimonious international community, but rather to all civil society organizations and solidarity groups to back the anti-Israel sanctions campaign initiated by South African workers and solidarity groups to compel Israel to end to its aggression against
Palestine and Lebanon.

We also call on all Arab non-governmental organizations and political parties to boycott American embassies and compel their governments to sever their diplomatic ties with Apartheid Israel. We ask: What more do the Arab peoples need to see to translate their words of support into action? What more do they need to see to convince them to act than the dozens of dead corpses of children in Qana?

Freedom-loving people should take steps today to make sure that there will not be another Qana; that these will be the last children that we will lose in this brutal and inhumane way in Palestine and Lebanon.

Let the blood of the children of Qana, Al Maghazi, Ash Shajaeyya and Beit Lahiya be the torch that will set alight an international movement of solidarity that will lead to the liberation of Lebanon and Palestine.
