SodaStream international, a manufacturer of home beverage carbonating devices, whose main production site is located in an illegal West Bank Settlement, is set to open up a new factory inside Israel, Haaretz has reported.

SodaStream has been successfully targeted by BDS activists in many of the 39 countries which it exports, especially in Europe.

It remains unclear whether SodaStream's settlement facilities (pictured), based in Mishor Adumim, will be closed when the new factory opens inside Israel.

A recent briefing by the WhoProfits research project used SodaStream as an example to show the way in which settlement enterprises are complicit with Israeli violations of international law and receive subsidies from the Israeli state.

In March 2010, the European Court of Justice ruled that settlement produce was not eligible for preferential treatment under the EU-Israel Association Agreement. The case was initiated following the refusal by German customs authorities to allow SodaStream products to qualify for preferential treatment.
